Hypuronector

When first found, Hypuronector was regarded as a swimming reptile, hence the name. I his was a reasonable assumption for the deep-finned tail could easily have been a swimming organ. However, the current interpretation is that it was a gliding animal possibly with gliding membranes between its legs, and using the tail as an air rudder. Animatronic dinosaur

Hypuronector

Features: Dozens of specimens of Hypuronector have been found in lake deposits of New Jersey, USA. The build of the skeleton is similar to that of the contemporary tree-living reptiles of Italy. The deep tail is strengthened by spines reaching downwards from the vertebrae. The legs are long suggesting that they may have supported a gliding membrane. The feet have not been found, and so it is not known if it has the same perching toes as its Italian cousins.
