Milleretta
The anapsids were a group of reptiles that had no openings in their heads, aside from the eye sockets and the nostrils. Nevertheless one group, the millcrettids, did have a pair of openings behind the eyes, although the rest of the skull was distinctly anapsid. These openings evolved independently.
The group represents a side branch of the anapsid reptile line. walking dinosaur costume for sale

Features: Milleretta has a pair of openings in the skull behind the eyes. This led to speculation that it represented a stage in the evolution of one of the other reptile lines, but this is not now thought to be the case. A concave area in the back of the skull suggests the presence of an eardrum and complex hearing system. The rest of the animal is built like other primitive reptiles - an agile little insect-eater, just like a modern lizard.
Captorhinus
Another group of early amniotes were the captorhinids. These were among the most primitive of the cureptilia (the"true reptiles'' as opposed to the parareptilia, the "almost reptiles"). Captorhinus itself is known from several species that differ from one another by the arrangement of teeth. amusement dinosaur

Features: The mam species. C. aguti. has multiple tooth rows giving a broad insect-grinding surface, as had its relative Labidosaurus, and extra cheek teeth, while C. laticeps has the cheek teeth but only a single tooth row. The articulation of the hind limb, especially in the bone structure of the ankle, shows that Captorhinus must have moved like a modern lizard. The structure of the forelimb is quite loose, allowing a great deal of movement.

Below: The leg articulation was similar to those of most modern reptiles, except the turtles to whom, ironically, the captorhinids were most
closely related.
